"Or I could simply kill you right now - no one would really care to ask why if I just said I caught you sneaking about." Eh, he was not going to do that, he knew that much. Not that he particularly wanted to explain why - to himself or to anyone else; "I could also rough you up a bit more and bring you in for the real questioning at the hands of a legillimens." Which might also result in a negative outcome for him, since she might have seen and heard bits of him he did not want to draw any attention to. So, he shrugged; "I could even do whatever I want to with you and then obliviate you, so you'd be none the wiser." But he was way, way too tired to even have any idea of what he might have wanted to do with her.
So, with how light his tone was while describing each of the options, she might have already deduced he was leaning towards accepting her idea. Then again, if she believed he truly enjoyed his work, she might even deduce she was a goner. It did not matter what she thought. With a sigh, he reached for her wand and held it out to her. Fine, so maybe he had not found out what exactly she needed that damned spell of hers for. But why was it important, again? He might forget all about it if he drank enough tonight. And he sure as hell needed a drink or few right now.
"Go on. Take it and get out of here. And please, do tell everyone the tale of how the evil Thorfinn Rowle tortured you in the woods, barely letting you get away with your life." He shrugged and even winked at her playfully, "Whatever you say I did, I'll confirm it. Go ahead and make your boyfriend jealous, if you'd like." Ah, yes, she was probably way too young for him, but what kind of jest had she expected him to use, with her having just looked like his wife five minutes ago?
At any rate, it was time for them to finally part ways and for him to finally go and get completely and utterly obliterated by whiskey. What a nice, warm thought, eh?
"Off for my real lunch break, now. Though, y'know what they say - no rest for the wicked." And he actually did turn his back on her after she'd taken the wand, not really caring if she tried to hex him or not. He guessed he was quick enough to cast a shield charm if he managed to hear her make any move. If not, well, he'd be hexed. Big deal.
The girl had gotten off easy. Too easy. Unrealistically easy. If it had been Scabior or Greyback...That thought made him stop and turn back towards her. And actually call out to her.
"Fanny." Now he was completely spoiling his reputation and for nothing, since she certainly already knew what he was going to say. But kids got those weird ideas these days - it was evident from what she had just done that her sense of self-preservation was not very much emphasized, "If it had been anyone else...you'd be dead now. Or worse. And if I hadn't been alone, I'd have administered all that worse." He cracked half a smile, "Just so you don't get any ideas into your head about pulling stunts like that again." With that, he was gone. And despite the fact he was very aware that he had not actually talked to Gaby and that Gaby was long, long gone, he did feel a certain sense of closure concerning her that had not been there before. Well. I'll drink a few for you tonight, Gaby. Fanny. Both.
