With a keen eye for detail, it's no surprise that Rodolphus is considered one of Voldemort's most loyal and trusted followers. Rodolphus could be easily considered careless, he held no feelings towards anyone, except Bellatrix and Rabastan. Underneath his cold exterior, Rodolphus is surprisingly intelligent. Although he despises the idea of being considered a bookworm, growing up Rodolphus was all about books and learning. He spent a lot of his time as a youth in the library and spending way more time than necessary asking questions. He was curious, he still holds true to his curiosity. His eye for detail helps in this sense, as he's quick to learn what's going on around him, to ask questions and pick up on small things that others don't usually notice. While many are considered to be a fierce friend, Rodolphus could be considered a fierce opponent. His knowledge of the dark arts expands to a vast knowledge of spells that, especially at the young age that he learned them, could easily wind him up in a heap of trouble, or easily wind up his opponent in a heap of pain. Rodolphus is ruthless when he's hurting someone, he cares little about how much pain they might be in. He'd kill his own family member if told to do so, although he'd be hesitant to kill his own brother. This ruthless aggression stems into a bit of an attitude issue when things don't quite go the way he was hoping. HISTORY Rodolphus was the first of two sons born into the elite Lestrange Family in 1950. Despite their well known ways for being above all, and purest of blood, Rodolphus cared little for his parents. They were simply mother and father to him, names were for those that actually mattered, they didn't. They were simply vessels that allowed for him to be born. They were quick to define what Rodolphus considered the only way to live, the idea of shunning those that weren't equal to him. It was an idea that Rodolphus was keen to pick up on, even though it made for a very tense relationship with his parents. At the time, his parents were loyal to a man named Lord Voldemort. Many a tale he had been told of this man, how he would soon make the world perfect, and how Rodolphus' family was loyal to the death to him. At the time, Rodolphus was far too young to truly understand just what was being set out for him in the future. CANDI - 22 - MOUNTAIN - FEMALE In 1961, Rodolphus was sent off to Hogwards School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, where he was quickly and unsurprisingly sorted into Slytherin. As the years went by, and Rodolphus found himself trapped wtihin the walls of the school, he had heard the whispers of the Death Eater ranks growing, the same ranks that his own parents had told him about when he was a mere child. WIthin the walls, Rodolphus found himself spending time with an elite group of Slytherin's, a core that he knew wasn't bound to break anytime soon. And while so many assumed that Rodolphus cared for little within school, no one truly knew of what he was doing. The constant hours he spent in the library pouring over the darkest of books, or the constant trips to each teacher to learn all that he could about the dark arts. He did his best to make it appear that his seeking was simply from a curiosity standpoint and not out of complete devotion and almost animalistic craving to learn more on hurting others. Rodolphus graduated from Hogwarts in 1968 a changed man. His sense of curiosity had heightened to uncontrollable levels, his mind turning him into a near basket case at the mere thought of hurting someone with the knowledge that he now possessed. It was cruel, in more ways than one. It was a few years past this point that Rodolphus made amends to his parents for one reason and one reason only. He wanted nothing more than to join the elite rankings and to fight alongside of those completely and utterly devoted to Lord Voldemort. A young man with a keen sight for detail, Rodolphus proved himself worthy as he fed secrets to the Dark Lord from little pieces, able to blend in far easier than most. His allegiance to the Dark Lord began to infect into him so much so that Rodolphus once more turned his back on his parents, the same fools who were beginning to grow weery about Rodolphus joining the Death Eaters, and went back to his old ways, his cold and uncaring personality began to form once more. Soon after, Rabastan graduated from Hogwarts and joined Rodolphus as a Death Eater, a choice that would soon cause their mother years of suffering and anguish. The Lestrange brothers stood strong together, working alongside each other as a team. Despite how little he felt towards his parents, Rodolphus held his brother in another light, he was proud of him, he knew that his brother would do great things one day. Just like he would. In 1975, he was told that he was to be wed to another pureblood, Bellatrix Black. Having known the woman from the school years, her being one year behind him, Rodolphus knew exactly what he was getting himself into and he knew not to feel anything for the woman. Or at least, that's what he had tried to do. Despite how little attention he got from his new wife, seeing first-hand how devoted she was to Voldemort, Rodolphus couldn't control the feelings he felt for her, the attraction he felt towards her at the very least. He couldn't say then that he felt anything close to love, not truly knowng what that really felt like, but he knew he cared somewhat for her and was truly protective of the woman. The years proved fruitful for the Death Eaters, and in turn Voldemort, as the deminished every last bit of hope and happiness that the world felt. The group grew, new Death Eaters joining the ranks, but Rodolphus knew to not place his trust with anyone but a small group, his own family, and that which he had been married into. Unfortunately, in 1981, it all fell apart. Voldemort had fallen to a mere child, a baby. The Death Eaters drew apart, but Rodolphus stayed loyal to his brother, his wife, and Barty Crouch, Jr, another Death Eater that was just as sick and twisted as the rest of them. Rodolphus watched from the sidelines as his wife descened into utter madness, unable to do anything but watch helplessly. He wanted so badly to help her, to make everything alright, but he knew no way so he stayed out of her way as best he could. With things growing worse, Rodolphus joined the others in a combo attack on the Longbottoms, driving the couple into utter insanity before being captured and locked up in Azkaban. The utter descent of madness from being locked up was quick to set in on some, but Rodolphus did what he could to keep himself sane as the years dragged on. He couldn't understand why they spent year after year locked up in that place, no one coming to save them, no one coming to break them out. Why? They were more loyal than any of those that were free to walk the earth like they were innocent and pure of misdeeds. Time trickled on until finally in 1996, they were free. Voldemort had returned and regained his power once more. Alongside of his wife Belltatrix and brother Rabastan, Rodolphus was declared part of an inner circle by Voldemort, his alligance and loyalty to the Dark Lord proved beneficial. He was looked fondly on by the Dark Lord for once, no longer cast aside by someone that was more in control than him like Malfoy or Snape. It was Rodolphus that was being held in that spot alongside of his brother and wife. Two years later, at the Battle of Hogwarts, Rodolphus went out of his way to find his niece. To hurt her much like she had hurt him mere months prior when she jinxed him while he was in pursuit of her and Ron Weasley, whom at the time Rodolphus assumed was Potter. The wound had healed, but the scars were still visible to his torso and side. He didn't get his true chance for vengence, wanting nothing more than to kill the woman that had hurt him, but nonetheless, he had hurt her before she was finally killed. Many a time within the fight itself, Rodolphus had nearly seen his wife killed before his own eyes. Although he was quiet about it, Rodolphus made sure to interfere in one incident, blindsighting the person that had tried to take her away from him. In the end, after all the blood, sweat and more blood, the Batlte was won and Voldemort had actually won. They had won. They had finally made the world pure, made it how it should have been from the very start. After the dust had settled, Voldemort gave everyone new jobs. Rodolphus stayed in his position as a Death Eater, spending most of his time prowling around the halls of Hogwarts or spending the day traveling through Hogsmeade. He now keeps a close eye on the coming and goings between the school and the rest of the Wizarding World. |
